Special Rapporteur held dialogues on indigenous peoples’ rights and conservation at 15th Session

EGM 2015In parallel to the 15th Session of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, the Special Rapporteur on the rights of Indigenous Peoples, Victoria Tauli-Corpuz, hosted two dialogue meetings respectively for Indigenous Peoples’ organisations and representatives – as well as conservation organisations. The theme was the rights of Indigenous Peoples and conservation. The aim was to receive information and views for a report on the issue which will be submitted this year to the General Assembly of the United Nations. The Special Rapporteur also intends to transmit her recommendations to the IUCN World Conservation Congress to be held in Hawaii next October.
