As the world prepares to mark the 30th anniversary of the landmark Copenhagen Declaration on Social Development, the NGO Committee for Social Development has launched its comprehensive report, Bridging Vision to Action. This timely review assesses global progress on the Declaration’s 10 Commitments and their alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The report reveals both achievements and setbacks since 1995, particularly in poverty reduction, education, healthcare access, and social inclusion. While the SDGs have strengthened the global framework for action, crises such as COVID-19, climate change, and conflict have slowed progress and deepened inequality.

“We must move beyond aspirational rhetoric,” said Jean Quinn, Chair of the NGO Committee for Social Development. “The time for implementation is now.”

Key recommendations include enhancing universal social protection, creating inclusive employment, ensuring gender equality, strengthening international cooperation, and building robust data systems for accountability. The report also calls for a renewed World Social Summit in 2025 to re-energize political will and public engagement.

As the 2030 Agenda nears its final stretch, Bridging Vision to Action urges leaders and civil society to bridge the gap between commitments and concrete action—ensuring that no one is left behind.
