UNITED NATIONS, 13 September 2019 – The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs is launching the fourth edition of the State of the World’s Indigenous Peoples. The launch comes on the date the General Assembly adopted the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples in 2007 which marked the culmination of decades of struggle among Indigenous Peoples for a universal framework establishing minimum standards to ensure their survival, dignity and well-being.
The present report is submitted pursuant to General Assembly resolution 73/143 on the follow-up to the Second World Assembly on Ageing. It provides an analysis of ageing-related policies and priorities in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, as reported in the voluntary national reviews presented at the high-level political forum on sustainable development in the period 2016–2018.
