Unemployed, Frustrated and Connected: Youth Development Indicators linked to the WPAY

From 12-13 December 2011 an international expert group meeting was organized in response to calls from the General Assembly to establish a broad set of indicators related to youth, used to measure progress towards the implementation of the World Programme of Action for Youth.

Organized by the Division for Social Policy and Development (DSPD) in cooperation with the Statistics Division and Population Division of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs, and the United Nations Population Fund, the meeting saw the development of a draft list of indicators for countries to consider in monitoring implementation of the World Programme. The list will be proposed to member states at the Commission for Social Development in February 2013.

DSPD is organizing a side event at 1:50 on 28 February in Conference Room D to discuss the preparation of indicators of youth development based on the World Programme of Action for Youth, as well as to share information and continue a dialogue with interested parties on the indicators.

Where: Conference Room D, North Lawn Building, UNHQ, New York

When: Tuesday 28 February 1:50-2:45

Join us for the discussion:

Haishan Fu, Director, Statistics Division, United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific

Patrick Guyer, Chief Statistician and Coordinator, American Human Development Project, and adviser to DESA/DSPD

Anne Biddlecom, Chief, Fertility and Family Planning Section, United Nations Population Division.
